Ajuga has developed a versatile, sustainable technology platform which harnesses specialized structures on mint leaves for the production of terpenes, the largest and most diverse class of natural products.

Our proprietary Trichome FactoryTM technology offers an attractive approach by leveraging the cost-effective biological production of high-value terpenes used in the pharmaceutical, flavor, fragrance, and biofuel additive industries.  We collaborate with our customers  in these industries to identify high value chemicals and develop solutions for producing a wide range of terpene-based fine chemicals by utilizing our mint platform. We are dedicated to sustainable methods of production and discovering how plants can help create the future of specialty chemicals.

Ajuga’s technology originated at Washington State University, where researchers have been investigating the fascinating capabilities of mint plants for over 20 years.   The laboratories of Rodney Croteau and Mark Lange have built the foremost know-how and intellectual property base in the field of mint essential oil biosynthesis.   Ajuga and WSU are working together closely to develop this research into industrial applications.
